A Psalm of my Life

When I first read the poem, “A Psalm of Life”, there was a lot to interpret. It could be the main purpose of the poem which was to argue that life is precious and important, or maybe even that what was expressed in the poem was evidently false. Either way, it speaks to a general audience of people and their beliefs. But it has made me realize all the important things in my life. And I want to be able to recognize at least some of these things in this blog.

Firstly we see in the poem, that “Art is long, Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave,…”. Honestly, these two lines say a lot about how people choose to live and what is there to accomplish. In this case, Art seems almost like a representation of life and how it can be long and tiresome, but the irony is that time is short, and people who fail to recognize that are sooner or later, going to regret the decision they were or ere not able to make. Additionally, the poet is dead set on proving to this unknown character that life has more meaning than just statistics and data. Too many relationships., achievements, accomplishments that go unaccounted for. There is a mark to be in the “sands of time.” It’s not all about what people to choose to live as, but how they choose to live it, and I think that message truly resonated with my state of being and motives.
